We
find that many families enjoy combining a snorkel ,
whale watching (seasonal) or a dolphin encounter with a day of fishing.
It provides something for everyone and makes for a great
outing.
Our
favorite destination is the marine sanctuary at Kealakekua Bay.
Historically, the Bay is a sacred place to the native Hawaiian
People. It is also the location of the Captain Cook
Monument, marking the spot where a misunderstanding with
the local people led to his untimely death.
Kealakekua
Bay is usually warm, calm and protected with good underwater
visibility. It is home to a variety of colorful fish and
corals and often a resting place and playground to a pod of
spinner dolphins.
Our most popular combo is our
7 Hour or 8 Hour fishing and snorkel combo. We will fish
for the "big fish" or, (seasonally) fish smaller game fish like
Ono or stripped marlin on light tackle for approximately 4-5 hours and spend about
1 to 2 hours at Kealakekua Bay
snorkeling. After your snorkel in this
spectacular underwater sanctuary, we will serve you a deli-licious lunch.
While cruising
the Kona Coast, often we will encounter whales and/or dolphins. Add this
to fishing, and a snorkel and what you have is a GRAND SLAM.
